I live in an area where it is very dog friendly, We have off leash dog parks all over the city. Does holland have any dog parks?

A: Holland also likes to view itself as dog friendly. Walking downtown, or through our neighborhoods, one will always see people out and about taking their dog for a walk. However, as for “off leash” parks, we only have one in our community. The ”off leash” dog park is located on the north side of Lake Macatawa near the Ottawa County Fair Grounds.

I am originally from The Netherlands, but have lived for the last 10 years in California. How is the weather in Holland? I like four seasons, but what is the weather really like in all four seasons?

A: We really do have all four seasons here in Holland. In the spring time it is cool and the flowers are all in bloom. During the summer it gets warmer – not too hot, but hot enough that we all head to the beach on Lake Michigan for a quick dip to cool off. Fall brings bring crisp cool temperatures as the leaves begin to change, and then winter brings that wonderful white snow as front yards become home snowmen.

How open is Holland in regard to embracing people who relocate from somewhere else?

A: As a person who moved here with my family over 10 years ago, I can say from personal experience that Holland is very open to newcomers. So open (and nice), it is safe to say that once you move here, you really can’t think of living anywhere else.

I came across an old article (2006?) regarding the art movement in holland and wanted to know if it is still present.

A: Depends on what you are looking to buy. However, hands down, our Downtown is by far the best place to shop, mingle, and hang out. The variety of the stores, the timeless architecture, and landscaping all add up to an exciting getaway. In addition to our downtown, we have pockets of neighborhood commercial areas throughout the City, such as Washington Square or South Shore Village. We encourage to check all of our commercial areas when shopping and gravitate to the one you like best.

Is Dutch spoken in your town?

A: As for the number of people who still speak Dutch, I would say the number is very small. Once and a while you may hear someone speak in Dutch, but for the most part, English is the predominate language, with Spanish coming in 2nd. I would encourage you to check out the Holland Museum to learn more about our City’s Heritage and Culture.

My family may be moving to the Holland area we are coming from a top notch school system and looking to be in another top notch school district. Do you have any advice on the matter

Our City is home to One Traditional Public School, Two Charter Schools, and Two Private Schools. All of the schools excel at fostering an educated community. A: Short answer is yes. If you are specifically talking about our downtown along 8th Street, then there are apartments above our storefronts as well as two apartment buidlings called Srapyard Lofts and Centennial Park Place. Immediately adjacent to our Downtown are several single family and two family homes that are rented out as apartments. To search for available rentals, please go to the Holland Sentinel and look under their classifieds.

Hello, my wife and I are wanting to relocate to Holland and were wondering if its a good place to raise a family. Also I’d like to know if there’s a good abundance of jobs around the area?
